Our 3rd & 4th graders (bilingual crews from Ms. Pasán and Mrs. Irizarry's rooms) just had the best day at the Yale Peabody Museum! It was so awesome to see them checking out the fossils and getting hands-on in the workshops.

A huge thank you to the Peabody team for offering these free field trips and workshops! We’re so lucky to have such a cool spot to learn in.

Also, a massive shout-out to our amazing parent chaperones! We couldn't have done it without you—thanks for hanging out with us and helping make the day a success!

Our school is buzzing with the love of reading this week! Check out how our students are celebrating:

Our 1st, 3rd and 4th graders had a great time with our Literacy Coach, Mr. Greene, who joined them for a special read-aloud session that brought stories to life. It was a beautiful celebration of literacy and community!

Flashlight Friday: Things got glowing in 3rd bilingual grade! Students had a blast reading their favorite books using flashlights for a cozy, "camp-out" vibe.

Reading Circles: Our 5th bilingual graders spent quality time diving deep into their stories, reading side-by-side with their teachers.

We are so proud of our students for showing that reading isn't just a skill—it's an adventure!

What you need to know:

No cost: Screenings are free for all students in the specified grades.

Next steps: If your child needs a follow-up, a letter will be sent home with details for their doctor.

Questions? Contact the school nurse or call the Health Department at 203-946-7301.

Safety first! NHPS will stay closed Wednesday to finish cleaning up from the blizzard. We know it’s tough having the kids home for a third day, but we want everyone to be safe.

To help our students stay on track while schools are closed, we recommend the following daily routine:
Reading: At least 20 minutes of a book of their choice.
Homework: Review any current assignments.
Digital Learning: Log into Clever to access iReady, Lexia, and Google Classroom.

Thank you for helping us keep the learning going at home!

Our 5th and 7th graders are celebrating the Lunar New Year (Year of the Horse!) with a serious pop of color. Inspired by Eric Carle’s The Artist Who Painted a Blue Horse, they took a break from "realism" to let their imaginations run wild.

In Chinese culture, the horse represents energy and freedom—and we think these vibrant masterpieces definitely nailed that vibe!

Our latest Town Hall was one for the books! We were incredibly honored to host the Yale Spizzwinks, the world’s oldest underclassman a cappella group. Their voices brought so much joy and energy to our campus!

The high note of the morning, however, was celebrating our Students of the Month. This month, we focused on a very special trait: Empathy.

In a world where you can be anything, these students chose to be kind. Whether it’s supporting a friend, standing up for a classmate, or simply listening with an open heart, these honorees remind us that character is just as important as academics.

Congratulations to our "Empathy Ambassadors"—you make our school a better place every day!
