Our 4th graders in Ms. Nabakooza’s class have been busy with a fantastic hands-on project! Students learned the art of creating paper chains—from folding and drawing to precision cutting.
The best part? They didn't just stop at making their own; they combined all their chains together to create one massive chain and practiced their measurement skills to see exactly how long it reached.
We love seeing math and art come together in such a creative way. Great work, Tigers!

Our first graders, at Mrs. Marchittos's room, are working hard and having so much fun mastering new skills! We’ve had a busy week of hands-on learning:
Sweet Math: We used Lucky Charms cereal to collect data, build our own colorful graphs, and solve math problems! 🥣📊
Hundreds Chart Masters: We are becoming experts at finding "10 more" and "10 less" using our hundred charts. It’s amazing to see the patterns start to click! 💯🔢
Literacy Games: We turned our literacy centers into a Game Zone! We practiced our letters and digraphs with Candy Land and leveled up our sight word skills using Jenga and Connect Four. 🍭🎲
March Madness Reading: The results are in! 🏀📖 After weeks of intense competition and great discussions, we finally crowned our March Madness Reading Bracket Champion! Ask your student which book took the trophy home!
So proud of the focus and excitement these students bring to their learning every single day. Keep up the amazing work, team!

Our K-2 monolingual classes traveled to Branford High School for an exclusive preview of their upcoming production of The Little Mermaid.
Seeing the performance was exciting, but getting a "behind-the-scenes" look at the stage and the preparation was the highlight of the day! We are so proud of our students for being such attentive audience members and future theater lovers. 🧜♂️🎭
Thank you to the Branford High School theater program for this amazing educational experience!

Today, our 3rd graders explored Fractions of a Set. While we often think of fractions as pieces of a single pie, they also describe groups of individual objects!
Even though our beads come in different shapes and sizes, each one represents one unit in our collection.
The Denominator: The total number of beads in the entire set.
The Numerator: The specific number of beads in our favorite color.
This hands-on activity helps students understand that fractions aren't just about area—they are about relationships within a group. Ask your student to show you their "set" of beads tonight!

Our 3rd-grade bilingual stars from Mrs. Pasan’s room at Truman have been busy! As part of our HMH program for ELA and Spanish, our students brought their learning to life by performing the play "Gigi y el anillo mágico."
To make sure every student from pre-K through 5th grade could join the magic, we transformed our school library into a theater for two full weeks! Our talented performers took the stage for 6 different shows, demonstrating incredible stamina, bilingual fluency, and school spirit.
Seeing our students bridge their classroom curriculum with such a grand performance was a moment of pure Truman pride!
A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Guests
We were honored to welcome Superintendent Dr. Negron, our district leadership, and our bilingual district coaches to our performances.
A huge thank you as well to our school coaches, Principal, and Assistant Principal for supporting and joining us! Having our leadership team in the audience cheering on our 3rd graders made this special "HMH in Action" moment even more memorable.

Our 1st graders, from Mrs. Marchitto´s room, have been getting creative in the art room with Ms. Nabakooza! After listening to the classic story Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak, the students let their imaginations run wild to draw their very own "Wild Things."
It’s amazing to see how they brought these characters to life with so much personality and color. Take a look at the attached photos to see their awesome work!

The art room is officially hopping! Our 3rd grade students have been busy creating these adorable bunny puppets just in time for the season.
They worked their magic to bring these characters to life, and the creativity in each one is just amazing. Swipe through to see the whole gallery of long ears and twitchy noses!

Check out these awesome anime characters created by our 6th graders in Mrs. Perez-Estrada's class!
The students spent two classes working hard on these with Ms. Nabakooza in the art room, and the results are seriously impressive. It’s so cool to see their personal styles and favorite characters come to life!
