After learning about Frida Kahlo and her famous Casa Azul, students designed incredible 3D models showing what they imagine would be in her modern studio.
They combined history, culture, and imaginative design to bring Frida's world to life! Huge kudos!

What an amazing day!
Ms. Stockton and Ms. Marchitto's classes brought the wonderful book, "Balloons Over Broadway," to life last Wednesday! They showed off their incredible, student-made parade floats (balloons) in a quick parade behind the cafeteria.
Students from all over Truman School came out to cheer them on! It was a truly amazing way to celebrate their creativity and the joy of reading!

The rules were tricky:
Exactly 10 pieces (no more, no less! 🤯)
Must use 3+ different fruits
Every single one had to be different from their friends'!
They used awesome counting and thinking skills to build their sweet, unique snacks.

Half Day Tiger Play
Take a look at the activities that will be developed by Specials teachers to celebrate the Half-day Tiger play! on Wednesday, November 23rd.

Reading, Writing, & Math
Science & Social Studies
We also recognized students who embody the Truman Values and those who achieved Perfect Attendance!
We are so proud of your dedication and growth. Keep shining, scholars!

Check out the amazing work from two rockstar 3rd graders in Ms. Brown’s class! 🤩
They recently hit up the YUAG (Yale University Art Gallery) and got totally inspired by Joseph Stella’s wild painting, Battle of Lights, Coney Island, Mardi Gras!
They brought that same electric color and dynamic movement back to the classroom, creating their own awesome versions. They definitely won the "Battle of Lights" with these renditions!
Way to go, artists!

Our K-2 artists made magic with their Soot Sprite project, inspired by Miyazaki! They focused on simple shapes and textures to create these adorable, fuzzy characters.
The younger students especially had fun adding their own personalities to the sprites, and in true Truman fashion, the “67” meme made its appearance again. It’s always hilarious to see how internet culture sneaks into their creative choices.
You can find more information about the project on this link: Project
Huge shoutout to the 7th and 8th graders in Ms. Villa's art room! They absolutely crushed their Nicho Diorama project.
A Nicho is a little shadowbox altar, and these students used them to showcase their personal stories, favorite hobbies, and amazing creativity in 3D!
They learned about cultural art while making awesome mini-worlds. The final pieces are full of color, depth, and personality.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR FAMILES: WE NEED EVERY FAMILY TO COME AMD PICK UP THEIR KIDS AS THERE IS NO BUS SERVICE TODAY AT 2:50. PLEASE, COME TO SCHOOL DURING DISMISSAL TIME TO PICK UP YOUR KID AT TRUMAN SCHOOL.
Our amazing group of 3rd graders, including both bilingual and regular students, had an inspiring day at the Yale University Art Gallery!
Students explored the museum on a guided tour, discovering art in new ways by closely examining paintings and sculptures, focusing on colors, shapes, and form.
The best part? They became artists themselves! Through fun, hands-on activities, students created their own incredible art collages using felt , putting their artistic observations into practice. A fantastic day of creative learning!
Thanks to the Education Department at #yaleartgallery for organizing the trip for our students.

This activity requires them to connect different representations:
Visual Arrays (rows \times columns)
Repetitive Sums (equal groups/skip counting) and
Formal Equations
By successfully linking these pieces, they show they know exactly how multiplication can be represented.

We're thrilled to show off the incredible work being done in Mr. Reed's Math & Soccer Afterschool Program!
This program isn't just a simple mix of two subjects; it's a dynamic experience where hard work in math class is followed by tactical soccer practice, culminating in exciting Friday games.
A Huge Win Last Friday! We are incredibly proud to announce that the team won their last match with a score of 3-2! They demonstrated outstanding teamwork and collaboration. Great job, Mathletes!
Next Game Alert! Come cheer them on as they hit the field again!
Date: Tuesday, November 21st
Time: 3:00 PM (right after school!)
Head out and cheer them on—they've earned it!

A special thank you to all the families who came out to cheer for our students—your support made the day extra special!
Check out the photos below to see all the amazing outfits.

This week, students are mastering rigid transformations (translations, reflections, and rotations) through a hands-on design task. It's awesome to see them collaborate, problem-solve, and apply those abstract concepts to real-world designs. Great work, everyone!

A fantastic day of hands-on learning, fresh air, and fun—perfect for building new vocabulary while making great memories!

Our students enjoyed the best kind of half-day today! To celebrate, our amazing Specials team organized a special "Tiger Day" event. Students spent their Specials time rotating through fun activities: playing high-energy games in the gym, getting creative with arts and crafts, and grabbing some treats at the snack station.
A huge thank you to our entire Specials team for making the half-day extra memorable for all our Truman students!
